One of the largest stupas in the world, Boudhanath is the spiritual center of Kathmandu’s Tibetan Buddhist community. Walking clockwise around its base, alongside monks and pilgrims spinning prayer wheels, is a genuinely calming way to spend an afternoon.
The surrounding streets are dotted with monasteries, thangka painting workshops, and rooftop cafes with direct views of the stupa — worth lingering over a coffee before heading back into the city.
A short drive from Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel, Boudhanath pairs well with a visit to Pashupatinath on the same day, since the two sites are only a few minutes apart by taxi.
